Allen Custom Drills was founded in 2010 by Craig Allen, who brought a wealth of international agricultural experience gained from working across Australia, Canada, and the UK. His time abroad exposed him to a wide range of farming systems and machinery innovations, inspiring him to design and build seeding equipment tailored to New Zealand’s unique conditions.
The origins of Allen Custom Drills began with Craig’s drive to improve machinery performance for local land. After returning home, he focused on developing drills that offered versatility, durability, and precision to meet the demands of New Zealand farmers and contractors. From those early developments in Ashburton came the first officially designed Allen Custom Air Seeder Drill. What started as a small workshop has since evolved into a modern, purpose-built facility proudly based in Mid Canterbury, New Zealand.
Today, Allen Custom Drills is recognised across New Zealand and Australia for manufacturing high-quality Air Seeder Drills built to perform. Under Craig’s leadership as sole designer, the company has grown into a dedicated team committed to producing reliable, efficient, and easy-to-operate machinery that stands the test of time.
Over the years, Allen Custom Drills has developed and refined five core models—Contour, Packer, Tyne, Economic, and Heavy-Duty Drills. Each model serves a specific purpose and can be easily customised to suit a wide range of terrain, soil types, and operational requirements. This adaptability ensures every customer receives a machine designed for their needs while remaining affordable and straightforward to maintain.
Craig takes pride in working closely with clients throughout the design and build process. Many bring valuable ideas from their own experience, and he welcomes the opportunity to incorporate those insights into their custom-built drill.
